PayPal Website Payments Pro now accepts recurring
I see that PayPal Pro now supports recurring billing (see https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/we...urringPayments ). Does aMember support this as well, or has this not been integrated into the code yet? I currently use PayPal Standard b/c I need recurring. But I lose 75% when the user hits the PayPal site. I would love to do PayPal Pro for me new subscriptions. Does anyone have any feedback?

Same Requirement
Hi,
I also would love to get recurring payments working with Paypal Pro! I have not been using recurring, but believe I could really increase sales by making a smaller monthly fee rather than a one-time annual fee. www.blackberrymadesimple.com Thanks! Martin |

Any headway with this?
Seems like Web Payments Pro with PayPal take recurring billing, but I can't get it to work with aMember. Why not?
I mean, I am paying PayPal $30 extra for it, so I would think it would work with aMember. |

Yes, paypal pro does now accept recurring payments BUT at this time, the amember plugin for it does not support it.
I checked with amember support. |

According to the support, they should look into integrating the recurring options into the existing plugin within the next few weeks/month or two... let's hope they do

Oh now I really am confused. (I bought AMember last summer but have just begun using it now...I did reread the features list and the entire manual today.......I have the weirdest feeling that I'm totally missing the obvious, but bear with me.)
I just set recurring billing up with paypal last week thinking I had to have it to charge members' credit cards once per month. So, if I can't integrate amember with it, what do I do to charge my members each month? Does AMember keep the credit card numbers for me to enter manually (bummer) each month? Does it do this automatically? Or do I use the recurring billing through my shopping cart? (Zen cart) I've read everything in the control panel but must have not understood how this works. Actually, I wouldn't mind saving the $30.00 paypal charges for recurring billing. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Catherine Kasper Last edited by flowerdance; 04-17-2009 at 02:56 PM. |

AMember as the recurring billing processor
Thank you very much, David. I appreciate your response.
And thank you too to the others for beginning and posting to this thread. You've saved me money that I would have had to spend out of ignorance. I went back to my control panel and read my product settings with a new understanding. The chart here on the amember website regarding the payment processors says, that for paypal, the charge card info is kept within paypal and the amember program just "talks" to it, if I understand correctly. The process, of course, is unique to each payment processor. So that's what I didn't understand. I assumed that, when I set a product up, I was telling amember to tell paypal to use the recurring billing I was required to set up there. But what amember actually does is function as the recurring billing system. Please correct me if I am wrong. If I'm right, "Horray!" If anybody has any additional comments or suggestions or insights, or can verify my thoughts, please add them. I really want to set this up once and set it up right. Thanks much! Catherine |

Hi Dinesh,
You can do that at Manage Products > Edit (the product of your interest). Check the box "Recurring Billing". Lee

However, the box is only available if at least one from enabled payment plugins supports recurring billing. In case if you have only "paypal_pro" payment plugin enabled, there will be no such box. Do the following: - visit aMember CP -> Setup -> Plugins, disable paypal_pro and enable paypal_r plugin click "Save" - visit aMember CP -> Setup -> Paypal, and configure paypal_r plugin according to readme (see bottom of the setup page), click Save - now go to aMember Cp -> Manage Products -> Edit, and check the box. Recurring billing will now work. |

PayPal Pro Plugin
Does the Paypal Pro Plugin for aMember work yet with recurring billing? I noticed that Alex said they would be begin working on it recently and was wondering if it was up and running yet. Is there any way to be notified when it does?
